Homelessness in the South East
476 men, women and children were depending on emergency accommodation in the South East (Carlow, Kilkenny, Tipperary, Waterford and Wexford)) during the week of 20-26 October 2025 – up 13% in twelve months.
This figure includes 352 adults, and 124 children in 72 families. It’s a 8.6% increase in adults, a 20% increase in children, and a 9% increase in the number of families depending on emergency accommodation in the South East in the twelve months to October 2025.
46 adults were depending on emergency accommodation in Carlow during the week of 20-26 October 2025 – a decrease of 2% in twelve months.
48 adults were depending on emergency accommodation in Kilkenny during the week of 20-26 October 2025– an increase 9% in twelve months.
88 adults were depending on emergency accommodation in Tipperary during the week of 20-26 October 2025 – an increase of 29% in twelve months.
119 adults were depending on emergency accommodation in Waterford during the week of 20-26 October 2025– up 13% in twelve months.
51 adults were depending on emergency accommodation in Wexford during the week of 20-26 October 2025– down 15% in twelve months.
Note! These figures only capture people in emergency accommodation and don’t reflect the full scale of the homeless crisis. People rough sleeping, those in squats, parents and children in refuges, those in direct provision and hidden homelessness – people staying with family or friends on an insecure basis, often in over-crowded accommodation, because they have no-where else to stay – are not counted.
